Plan the party

Make it work: Eight Color Wonder markers mean sharing. Keep active games separate from the craft table; cups are not guaranteed leakproof.

Plan for 12 children

An editorial worked example, not a tested capacity or venue quote. Includes the birthday child; count attending adults separately. Adapt to your guests and check product labels.

Run the activity
Three groups of four rotate through a soft-toy rescue, picture-clue trail and coloring table. Allow about 8 minutes per station, with no elimination games.
Materials for rotations
Make 12 paper hero badges and 12 picture clues; borrow 3 soft toys. At the quiet table, one 27-page Color Wonder kit gives at least one page per child and eight markers for four children at a time.
If everyone colors at once
For all 12 children to color simultaneously, borrow ordinary crayons and provide 12 plain-paper sheets instead of assuming eight special markers are enough. Keep adults with preschool guests; parents of younger guests may need to stay.
Space and adult roles
One adult leads movement while another stays at the quiet table and handles arrivals. Separate routes from seated children. More adults may be needed for younger guests or access needs.
Budget assumptions
Example allowance: $65 snacks/drinks, $25 cake, $20 tableware, $25 activity/decor, $15 buffer = $150. Optional balloons, helium and cup favors must fit that allowance or raise it. Venue and adult food are extra.
